Medical Tests Requirements for Canadian Immigration in 2022!

A general physical examination of the eyes, nose, heart, lungs, chest x-ray, blood tests for HIV and syphilis, and urine test are common tests immigrants must undergo when applying for a Canadian PR. A medical examination is compulsory for all visa applicants, even if they are temporarily staying as caregivers or visitors.

This is an important health check to identify problems that exist in critical systems. If the applicant is pregnant, her x-ray is avoided to improve the health of the fetus. However, after the birth of the baby, the mother and newborn must undergo several tests. This check-up includes an examination of the eyes, nose, heart, lungs, and other vital functional organs. At this point, you should discuss any major past health problems with your doctor. If it is not currently causing adverse effects, the doctor will rate it positively.

To obtain a permanent residence card in Canada, applicants must be free of serious illnesses or disabilities such as active tuberculosis, HIV, or syphilis. Blood tests are important diagnostic tests for several other conditions that affect overall health. A detailed examination of the urine sample is also performed in a modern laboratory to reveal secondary diseases. Problems such as diabetes and various serious problems can be diagnosed with this test.

Note: It is important to note that citizen surgeons listed on the panel can only perform medical examinations and issue health certificates. The decision to issue a visa rests solely with Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

You and your family must be in good health in accordance with Canadian immigration regulations. Conduct an assessment with your family to ensure that your current or future medical condition will not cause problems for Canadian health or social services. Individuals suffering from an illness, medical condition, or psychiatric condition requiring hospitalization and ongoing medical care are generally considered ineligible to enter Canada after medical evaluation.

The expiration date of the health certificate issued by the panel doctor is the following year. The process may need to be repeated if he applies for her PR visa to Canada after one year from the date of issuance of the health certificate. A panel doctor or clinic staff will ask for identification to verify your identity. If you are referred for an examination such as an X-ray, you may be asked to re-present your ID at the time of the examination. Depending on your age, you may be asked to undergo chest x-rays and laboratory tests at a clinic or laboratory. Depending on the results of the physical examination, you may be referred to a specialist for further examination. Please complete this as soon as possible so as not to delay the processing of the medical examination.

The medical examination is required in the following cases:

  1. If you work in a profession where protection of public health is essential.
  2. For Study Abroad - A medical examination is a mandatory physical examination that proves an international student's readiness to study.
  3. Immigrant visas are issued to foreigners who wish to reside permanently.
  4. Nonimmigrant visas are for foreigners arriving for tourism, medical, business, temporary work, study, or similar reasons.

The tests required will depend on the type of visa you are applying for and the length of your stay. A chest x-ray is usually not required for stays of less than 6 months. However, if you stay longer than 6 months, you will be required to undergo a chest x-ray. A chest x-ray is also required if you are a citizen of a country with a high risk of tuberculosis (TB). Before your visa interview, you must be examined by an embassy-approved doctor. A medical examination must be completed at least three weeks prior to the interview date.

Documents required for a medical check-up:

  • Copy of vaccination card.
  • Medical records of previous surgeries and illnesses.
  • Four recent 3x4 (passport size) photographs.
  • Original passport and copy of passport.
  • Sexually active applicants must have had a vaginal examination and swab within the last 12 months and, if possible, must provide the results at the time of the physical examination. A list of all medications you are currently taking, including dosage and frequency.
